Looking back at 2o18

Hey. 2o18 ends in 2 days and I feel like 2018 took more than just 365 days. So many changes for me personally and no way in my wildest dreams would I imagine I would be ending this year like I am. I’m left here in my new apartment in new city with new job and best of friends thinking back about last year. I’d like to take you to this nostalgic throwback with me.

img_2302January – I started 2018 in Paris. Great way to start a year and I wrote all about it in New Years Eve in Paris article. Shortly after trip I created this renegade7x blog and began my proper blogger journey and I can’t believe it’s been just a year.  I was still studying pharmacy at Charles university in Hradec Kralove. I was just on the beginnings of my anti-depressant therapy when I celebrated my 22 birthday with my family and friends.

February – I managed to pass an organic chemistry exam I was struggling with my first year at university – that in fact caused me to repeat the year. I considered finishing this exam a huge milestone for me cuz it was holding me back from 4 more years of studying pharmacy – but soon I realized that I felt no satisfaction with passing the test and that academic life is not fulfilling me at all but on the other hand, is contributing to my mental health issues. It was not healthy for me to continue with that misery. That was the moment I stopped trying to make everyone around be happy and focused on myself and my own happiness. That’s when everything changed for me.

March – after a short job hunt I found part-time job at KFC restaurant (while I was still in school simply for benefits of it and to really figure out what I want to do with my life) I met incredible people in there and working in fast food chain restaurant has taught me so much about discipline and team work I could never imagine. It’s so much harder that I thought (think about that next time you’re at fast food restaurant) and I have new respect for everyone working in food industry.

img_2303April – I started fully working on my own fashion brand that’s still not fully out yet as I’m not quite satisfied with my work yet cuz I know I can do better and I want my product to be just right. I designed and co-created my first dress and wore them on my cousin’s wedding.

May – I cut my hair short what came as a quite shock to my new friends but the ones that knew me longer already knew how often I change my hairstyles – I talked about this in my All of my hairstyles article. I also travelled to Netherlands with my now roommate and co-writer of books section Domc. You can read about our One day in Netherlands  in here.

img_2304June – I was fully working in KFC restaurant, fully working on my blog, began some interesting fashion collaborations, kept working on my fashion brand but I still longed for something more. I started another full-time job hunt and it went so smoothly for me as I was already qualified pharmacist assistant.

July – I went on just one job interview and got the dream job in Prague – capital city of czech republic  with great salary and opportunities. This was the major change in my life I yet had to face, my big step into adulthood. Since I was a kid I was very independent and I’m so grateful that I’ve been on my own since I was 15 as that made this change so easy. All I felt for this whole time was excitement, I didn’t have a single regret about my decision to quit school and move far away from my hometown, to different city to start again. Everything feels just right now and that’s what was missing from my school years. I explained more in my Story behind my University dropout article.

August – Me and Domc decided to live together and began our frustrating apartment hunt. We got to live in our perfect apartment by pure destiny I believe – more in Septembers news.  I said goodbye to KFC and friends I made along the way and moved on.

September – New city, new job, new place – scary but excited. I have always found beauty in new beginnings just as in the endings. I always think about this quote from Johns Greens Paper Towns book:

“Leaving feels good and pure only when you leave something important, something that mattered to you. Pulling life out by the roots. But you can’t do that until your life has grown roots.”

I did just that and it felt so good. Yes beginnings were hard, I felt very lost in my work, we didn’t have any money to start with, had to live on soups but it still felt better than anytime before.

October – First paycheck made it all easier and even thought money can’t buy happiness they are still pretty close to it. I got along with my coworkers pretty good and realized they are really nice people and that this will be great fun. Of course I got yelled at by random strangers at work but I got to go home to my own place in Prague where I live with my best friend, write my heart out to unbelievable 100000 strangers on the internet, collaborate with fashion brands and earn some extra money and manage my fashion brand from distance so yeah everything was ok.

November – I realized I am actually pretty good at helping people in pharmacy, it took some time to learn  how does pharmacy works like in reality – what is like 98% different from what we’ve been taught at school. I daily work with around 200 people and even thought it’s so physically tiring it all goes away when those people thank me for helping them. Sometimes it’s really hard as any other people-job because not all of those 200 people are nice or well-behaved but it’s this nice small gestures I’m holding onto.

img_2305December – I finally get to go to my hometown after so long and spend lovely christmas with my family and dog. And now I’m sitting in my place planing New Years Eve party with my friends and writing this article. At the beginning of december I reached my blogger goal of 100000 visits to my blog and I’m still starstruck as I explained in Reaching my blogger goal

Now you see why I feel like 2018 took at least 5 years and not just one. So many things happened and I don’t think I can ever express my gratitude for everything I have I became and I am because of this year. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heat for sticking with me and reading my rambles. You made my year the best it could be and I look forward to everything that 2019 might bring my way. I hope you’ll stand by my blogger site in 2019 and all of the years to come.

This is my last 2018 article. I hope your year was just as good as mine was and I wish you all the health, happiness and love in 2019. Have a great New Years Eve and a Happy New Year.

Thank you

Thank  you

Thank you

xoxo Natalia

  1. It is always exciting to start the next chapter in your life. You will look back one day and see how far you have come.
When I was 22 I had just started dating the woman who I would marry and have 4 kids with. That was ten years ago. In that time we have moved from one end of Canada to the other 2 times and lived in I think six different houses after moving out of barracks. We`ve started and sold a business, released and rejoined the military. Life is an adventure.
